Description

Napoleon’s stepson (Empress Josephine’s son by her first marriage), with whom the emperor entrusted the ragtag remnants of the once-proud Grande Armee during the arduous retreat from Moscow. ALS in French, signed “Eugene,” one page, 5 x 8, November 30, 1823. Untranslated letter written to one of his siblings, signed “Beau frere Eugene.” Suede matted with an engraved portrait, to an overall size of 14 x 11. In very good condition, with mild toning, slightly fuzzy appearance to signature and a pencil notation to top edge. R&R COA.
