A document related to a film adaptation of Steinbeck’s novel The Wayward Bus, wherein “to induce you to give additional consideration to my said story, is hereby agreed that the expiration date of the option period provided for … shall expire on April 22, 1948.” A screen version of Steinbeck’s novel, directed by Victor Vacas and starring Jayne Mansfield, Joan Collins, and Dan Dailey, was finally released in 1957.
