Skilled and effective Confederate general (1836–1910) who later served as a brigadier general in the Spanish-American War and spent much of his civilian career as a railroad engineer. A longime friend and close associate of Custer, Rosser fought against him as an officer in Stuart’s “Invincibles”; they reconciled following the war. Ink signature, “Thomas L. Rosser, Baltimore, Md., December 1868,” on an off-white 5.25 x 2 slip.
