Personal check, 8.25 x 3.25, filled out by typewriter and signed by Gable, payable to Bel-Air Country Club for $33.05, March 13, 1950. The check was also signed later by Butterfly McQueen, who added her name on the blank line for a countersignature. Collectors with an ironic sense of humor will no doubt appreciate the fact that the Bel-Air Country Club admitted no black members until the 1980s. Way to go, Butterfly! In fine condition, with usual punch cancellations and bank stamps (the latter lightly touching Gable), red pencil mark slightly touching McQueen, and slight bleeding to first letter of Gable’s name. R&R COA. From the Jerry Granat collection.
