Description

In his talkie debut

American playwright, songwriter, and actor (1878–1942), widely regarded as the father of American musical comedy, who takes a place among the most beloved entertainers of his era. Among his scores of hits are such standards as “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “Give My Regards to Broadway,” and “Over There.” Vintage glossy 8 x 10 Paramount publicity photo of Cohan with an unidentified African-American actor, evidently a still from the 1932 film The Phantom President, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Oscar, your straight man, George M. Cohan.” In very good condition, with small marginal loss to one corner and a few scattered bends and dings. The inscription and signature are bold and dark, and, properly matted and framed, the photo will display quite nicely indeed. R&R COA.
