Henson’s 1957 AFTRA membership application, listing his profession as “puppeteer”

Creator of The Muppets and the leading force behind their long creative run. Henson brought an engaging cast of characters, innovative ideas, and a sense of timing and humor to millions of people. He is also widely acknowledged for the ongoing vision of faith, friendship, magic, and love which was infused in nearly all of his work. DS, one page both sides, 6.5 x 9, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists letterhead, May 20, 1957. Application for membership to AFTRA, filled out and signed on the front in black ink by Henson, printing his name “James Maury Henson,” and signing again underneath, “James M. Henson.” Henson lists his profession as a “puppeteer” on the reverse. In fine condition, with two horizontal storage folds and an office stamp and ballpoint notations to left edge. R&R COA.
