In part, “Mr. Charles Dickens presents his compliments to Mr. Macfarland…Mr. Macfarland will have the kindness perhaps to cause the book to be delivered when published.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, postmarked August 1847. Both are framed together with an original unsigned carte-de-visite portrait of Dickens, to an overall size of 13 x 11.
