Description

“Taking care of business” just months after recording Elvis’ first demo

American record producer (1923–2003) who earned a place in music history for his part in “discovering” and promoting a number of early rhythm and blues and rock artists, including Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and, most notably, Elvis Presley. TLS signed “Sam C. Phillips,” one page, 8.5 x 11, illustrated Sun Record Company letterhead, September 22, 1953. Phillips writes to Sam Hodge of the Paramount Record Manufacturing Company regarding a discrepancy in a purchase order; Hodge has penciled a reply in the blank lower portion. Elvis made his first demo recordings, “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin,” at Phillips’ studio on July 18 of the same year. A touch of mild wrinkling and minuscule edge chip, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
