Following in his very famous father’s footsteps, Creighton (his actual name) Chaney was at various times a plumber, a meat cutter’s apprentice, a metal worker, and a farm worker. He began working in films upon his father’s death in 1930. He is the only actor to have portrayed all four of the classic movie monsters: The Wolf Man, The Ghost of Frankenstein (The Frankenstein Monster), The Mummy’s Tomb (Kharis, the mummy) and Son of Dracula (Count Anthony Alucard, Dracula’s son). Rare 7.5 x 10 magazine photo of Chaney, Jr. as the Mummy, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint “Luck Skip, Lon Chaney,” using the same “L” for both inscription and first letter of signature, as was his custom.
