TLS, one page, 5.75 x 8, Ministry of Defence letterhead, March 3, 1960. Mountbatten writes to Buddy Adler. In part: “Thank you so much for your telegram of sympathy, which touched me very much. I am so grateful. It has been a great comfort to receive so many wonderful tributes. Please forgive a typed letter and the delay in replying, but I have received literally thousands of letters and telegrams from all over the world.” Mountbatten has also added the heading and complimentary close in his own hand.
