Norwegian composer who based his work on traditional national folk music. After some years teaching and conducting in Christiania, the success of his incidental music for Ibsen's Peer Gynt (1876), and a state pension, enabled him to settle near Bergen. AMQS on the reverse of a 3.5 x 5.5 portrait postcard of Grieg. He pens two bars of music and lyrics from an unidentified work, boldly signing underneath. In fine condition, with scattered light foxing, not detracting from bold quote and signature. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
