Description

1943 “secret” letter from Hitler’s private secretary

Private secretary to Adolf Hitler who guarded Der Führer’s door so strictly that high-ranking officials often complained of their lack of access. Bormann tried to escape from the Führerbunker on May 1, 1945, and was reportedly killed. His body was never found, and some believe he escaped to South America. TLS in German, signed at the conclusion of the first page “Bormann” and rubber stamped “geheim” [secret], one page both sides, 8.25 x 11.5, Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei letterhead, April 14, 1943. Bormann writes to “Gauleiter” Robert Wagner. A letter mentioning the dissolution of monastery churches in Elsass and indicating Bormann’s approval for Wagner to take “necessary measures” and to organize lodging. In very good condition, with a few folds and bends lightly touching signature and file holes with associated losses to top and left margins which can easily be matted out. A most interesting example! LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
