Glossy 8.5 x 12 photo of the artist seated at a wooden desk and staring into the camera as he displays one of his sculptures, boldly signed in red felt tip, “Picasso, 10.5.65” [May 10, 1965]. The reverse bears a few notations and stamps, including “World Famed Artist, Cannes, France 1965” and “Picasso at Work, Doubleday, Nov. 20, 1964” (possibly indicating publication of this image). In the same month that he signed this photo, Picasso completed his model for one of his last major public commissions, the fifty-foot, 162-ton metal sculpture known affectionately as the “Chicago Picasso.” In fine condition, with scattered light creasing (a bit heavier along edges and in corners), surface impressions, and neatly trimmed edge.
