Description

Birth of a King: Elvis signs his first publicity photo

Terrific vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Elvis as an up-and-coming Sun Records artist, signed in ink, “Yours, Elvis Presley.” This photo, which features the nineteen-year-old Elvis sporting a necktie and his trademark smile-verging-on-sneer, was the young singer’s first official promotional image. According to the consignor, the signature was obtained at a show at the Parkin [Arkansas] High School on March 21, 1955. Attractively matted and framed with an engraved explanatory plaque to an overall size of 18 x 27.25. In very good condition, with scattered dings, surface impressions, and bends, pinholes at corners, unobtrusive tracing impressions to Elvis’ eyes and eybrows and small spot of skinning and piece of tape to top edge. The signature remains well-contrasted, and the whole displays nicely. COA Roger Epperson/PSA/DNA and R&R COA. Oversized.
