Flu-ridden Shaw makes light of his picture postcard

Nobel Prize–winning Irish dramatist and critic (1856–1950) who takes a place among the most distinguished and influential literary figures of his time. ALS signed “G. Bernard Shaw,” one page, 3.25 x 5.25, April 3, 1916. Letter to Ernest Newman. Shaw writes: “Many thanks: it is very kind of you. I am nearly dead with virulent influenza, and don’t want to enclose any of it in an envelope: hence this card – and ‘such’ a card!” A bit of light toning and creasing to correspondence side and some light surface marks to image side, otherwise fine condition.
