Acknowledging a scientific journal

Pioneering French microbiologist and chemist (1822–1895) who demonstrated the germ theory of disease and developed the first vaccine against rabies. ANS in pencil signed “L.P.,” on the blank reverse of Pasteur’s 4 x 2.25 business card as “Membre de l’Institut” letterhead, July 9, 1878. A receipt issued to a M. Chéreau. In full [translated]: “Rec. from M. Chéreau on July 9, 1878 the April 1878 number of the Quarterly Journal of Miscrosc. Sci.” A pencil notation has been added in another hand to the printed side. In fine condition, with a touch of mild scattered soiling. R&R COA.
