Webster” on a 5.5 x 7.5 album page, June 22, 1836. A warm message to Miss Mitchell. In full: “I have pleasure in complying with Miss Mitchell’s request. Having known her father for some years, & having the honor of a slight acquaintance with herself, I use this occasion to express for her my regards, & cordial good wishes.” In fine condition, with uneven edge from removal (well away from writing), small piece of tape to blank lower margin, toning, and later ink inscription to reverse faintly showing through; most of the faults can easily be matted out.
