The secret to Olympic success…whiskey!

He was the first American to win four track and field medals in one Olympics. The performance in Berlin in 1936 made him both an Olympic hero and a lasting symbol of black pride. His father was a sharecropper and his grandfather a slave. Vintage 11 x 13.5 heavy paperstock promotional photo, bearing a pre-printed signature and sentiment, “Moderation for all things. I recommend Calvert’s ‘Old Drum’ Sincerely, Jesse Owens,” and signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Gloria, Sincere best wishes from Jesse Owens.” In good condition, with a bisecting vertical fold, three border tack holes, small tear to left and a few surface marks and spots of soiling.
