Mailing envelope from the (old) Imperial Hotel, Tokyo, 5.5 x 4.25, addressed in Wright’s hand to his wife at the Ikao Hotel in Ikao, Japan, incorporating his signature (“Mrs. Frank Lloyd Wright”) in the address, postmarked July 8, 1913. Wright was then in the earliest stages of planning his monumental design for the new Imperial Hotel (completed 1923), which, after surviving a devastating earthquake, came to be recognized as one of his greatest accomplishments. In fine condition, with light scattered soiling, expected ink stamps and postal labels, and mild wrinkling and handling wear. R&R COA.
