Brigadier General in the Continental Army (1734–1793) who served under Washington in the French and Indian War and commanded a brigade at Valley Forge. War-date manuscript DS, signed “G. Weedon Adj. Genl.,” one page, 9 x 6.5, February 27, 1777. A document regarding an evidently grave personnel matter. In part: “The officers are desired to make returns of any map maker they may have in their respective corps. The execution of Sergt. Porterfield is suspended by the General’s order, till Friday the 22nd of March.” Matted and framed together with an illustration and engraved plaque to an overall size of 23.5 x 16.75.
