In full: “I am compelled to be in Washington on the morning of the 1st of Nov.—You will therefore perceive it is out of my power to accept your polite invitation to meet your English friends on the evening of the 31st, which I much regret.” In fine condition, with usual mailing folds, light toning, and mounting remnants to reverse.
