Nine 8 x 5 lined cards, bearing Ali’s unsigned handwritten speech prompts for an address regarding the Muslim religion. Cards are numbered from between 1 and 8, with last card unnumbered and Ali’s notes written in black felt tip. An excerpt of the speech reads (with Ali’s spelling errors intact), “Just imagine 20 or 30 million descendants of slave parents who have maintained and helped the White race to be independant over the Western Hemisphere. Your states have been increased to 50 states. And America refused to offer and give one of these States to us the so-called Negroes of America…Don’t you think out of the 22 million of us should be by this time desireing to be independant of outr slave masters, especially slave masters that beat and kill us day and night all over the country…The trouble is Black and White in Cuba.
