Nobel Prize–winning chemist (1912–1999) who was instrumental in the discovery of several elements. Element 106, Seaborgium, was named in his honor in 1994, the first such distinction ever bestowed upon a living person. Glossy 8 x 10 photo of Seaborg seated at his desk, nicely signed in black ink; an FDC, 6.5 x 3.75, with a cachet honoring the 100th anniversary of the National Academy of Science, signed on the front in black ballpoint; and an eight-page typesript of the Franck Report, issued on June 11, 1945, which recommended a demonstration of the atomic bomb with hopes that this act would persuade Japan to surrender, signed on the last page in black ink by Seaborg.
