ALS in French, signed “C. Pissarro,” one page on a sheet of black-bordered 4.5 x 7 stationery, May 4, 1898. Pissarro, having heard that Monet is to have an exhibition that month, expresses his disappointment (“Je regretterai beaucoup”) that he will not be able to attend. Pissarro goes on to mention that he himself is to have an exhibition at the Durand Gallery in June, and he wishes Monet much success, particularly with his famous painting “Cathedrals.” In fine condition, with central mailing fold, a few marginal bends, and a subtle suggestion of wear at edges.
