Sergei Eisenstein (1894–1948) was a pioneering Russian film director who remains one of the greatest stylists in the history of the medium; Sergei Yutkevich (1910–1985) was a Russian film director and scholar. Signed book (in Russian): Charles Spencer Chaplin. Moscow: 1945. Hardcover, 6 x 9, 208 pages. Signed and inscribed in red crayon on the front free end page, “To Walter Wanger with affection, Eisenstein” and “S. Yutkevich.” Wanger (1894–1968) produced such classics as Stagecoach (1939) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956). In very good condition (ex-library copy), with rubbing and wear to covers, spine label, bookplate, labels and stamps to interior, and toning and scattered staining to interior. R&R COA.
