Returning from South America at the behest of Nelson Rockefeller and the war effort, Disney thanks his Chilean host

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, vivid colorful Fantasia letterhead, November 25, 1941. Disney sends his thanks to one of his hosts on a vacation to Chile. In part, “All of us had a wonderful time in Chile, and we are especially grateful to you and Pancho for everything you did to make our visit so interesting and enjoyable. I hope that sometime I may have the opportunity of availing myself of your offer to spend a summer down in your country…After getting home, I don’t know why we were in such a hurry to leave, but the truth of the matter is that Mrs. Disney was missing the children so much that we just had to get to them.” Walt Disney devoted over ninety percent of his production during the war years to the output of films made especially for the Navy, the Army, and for government agencies such as the Treasury Department, the Department of Agriculture, and the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American affairs. Nelson Rockefeller was the coordinator of Inter-American Affairs in 1941. He had asked Walt Disney to go Peru, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile to make movies that would encourage children and adults to live in a emotionally and physically better environment. Walt Disney, with his staff of animators got to work with the movie Saludos Amigos which was released in the U.S. in Feb 1943, and followed along with the movie The Three Caballeros. Accompanied by a Letter of Grading and Authenticity from PSA/DNA, rating the signature (and signature only) on the letter Gem Mint 10. Mounting remnants running down left edge, four punch holes to left edge, expected fold and bold signature, otherwise fine condition. Left edge flaws may easily be matted out. COA Phil Sears, PSA/DNA COA and R&R COA.
