Impressive vintage matte-finish 11 x 12 photo, a three-quarter-length view of the elegantly attired composer with pen in hand, signed and inscribed “To Alfred Lappe with the compliments of Victor Herbert, May 1916,” the composer adding a three-measure musical quotation from his opera Natoma. In fine condition, with trimmed margins (well away from image and writing), two edge tears (confined to blank margin), a few mild bends and dings, and a touch of scattered soiling. R&R COA.
