Description

Sam Cooke endorses a check from the William Morris Agency

Popular rhythm-and-blues and soul artist (1931–1964) who recorded such hits as “You Send Me,” “Cupid,” and “Twistin' the Night Away.” The thirty-three-year-old Cooke was shot to death under mysterious circumstances at a Los Angeles hotel on December 11, 1964. Scarce endorsement signature, “Sam Cooke,” on the reverse of a business check for $2317.98 made out to him by the William Morris Agency, December 14, 1959. Usual bank stamps (away from signature), mild toning, and a few chips and tiny tears to edges, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA. Featured collection item.
