In part, “I have learned that you recently retired as editor of the Olean Times Herald. Journalism needs men like you, for the people of America depend heavily upon their daily newspapers to give them the facts. You have helped countless numbers of Americans during your long career to become well informed and, thus, better to fulfill their civic responsibilities.
