Shaw gauges the demand for his work: “It is as well to know what publishers are interested in us even if we are unable to deal with them”

Nobel Prize–winning Irish dramatist and critic (1856–1950) who takes a place among the most distinguished and influential literary figures of his time. ANS signed “GBS,” one page, 4.5 x 2, April 22, 1925. Shaw writes to an unknown recipient. In full: “Will you write to these people and explain that you are my authorized translator and that we are in Cyarski’s[?] hands as to publishing. It is as well to know that publishers are interested in us even if we are unable to deal with them.” Double matted with a vintage photo to an overall size of 9 x 14.
