French painter and illustrator (1846–1920) best known for his designs for French currency and postage stamps. Amusing original signed ink sketch of a painter at work and a toy cow with milkmaid, the two vignettes captioned (in French) respectively, “The infancy of art/the art of infancy,” on an off-white 4.75 x 7 sheet. In fine condition, with scattered toning (mainly at edges) and slightly irregular left edge. R&R COA.
