Unusual and amusing birthday card, 5 x 7, signed and inscribed in black felt tip on the interior, “To Richard, Happy happy birthday! With love from Diana,” no date. The “animated” card features a dignified image of Elizabeth II which, when opened, transforms into Margaret Thatcher wearing only high heels, pearls, a bra, and boxer shorts as she vacuums a floor! If there were ever cause for Elizabeth to repeat Queen Victoria’s famous icy observation—“We are not amused”—this would be it! Accompanied by the original envelope bearing the recipient’s name in Diana’s hand. In fine condition, with just a touch of handling wear and a few small and very subtle stains to signed panel.
