Popular big band leader. In 1942, Miller joined the U.S. Air Force and organized the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band to entertain the troops. In December 1944, on a flight from England to Paris, the plane Miller was traveling in disappeared over the English Channel and was never found. Scarce sepia glossy 8 x 10 photo of the smiling Miller holding his trombone, signed in fountain pen, “Sincerely, Glenn Miller.” Accompanied by the original “Glenn Miller Orchestra” mailing envelope, postmarked February 16, 1942.
