One of the great figures in American jazz, Ellington was one of the first to use classical themes in jazz, and is still considered one of the most innovative composers in jazz history. At the height of his career Ellington toured the world with his orchestra, and composed such standards as “Mood Indigo.” Vintage glossy 8 x 10 promotional photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Clyde, My very best wishes, Duke Ellington.” A few light bends and several streaks from a previous small spill, otherwise fine condition.
