Endorsement signature, “H. C. Lloyd,” on the reverse of a 9 x 3.5 business check for $150.00 made out to him by the Rolin Film Company, March 3, 1917. At this early stage of his career, Lloyd was best known as “Lonesome Luke,” a tramp-like character clearly inspired by Charlie Chaplin. Within a few years, Lloyd would develop the glasses-wearing persona for which he is most famous, and it was in this guise that he starred in such classics as Safety Last and The Freshman. In fine condition, with a touch of toning, light horizontal folds, and usual punch cancellations, none of the above affecting the signature. R&R COA.
