Revolutionary War soldier, lawyer, senator, and vice president under Jefferson, probably best known for mortally wounding Alexander Hamilton in a duel on July 11, 1804. Third-person ALS signed “Mr. Burr” in the text, one page, 5 x 8, December 9, 1812. Burr writes to William J. Waldron. In full: “Mr. Burr presents his compts. and would be glad of an interview with Mr. Waldron in the course of this day on the subject of the affairs of the [ship] Mary and Susan. To prevent disappointment, it is requested that Mr. W. will be pleased to know the hour at which it could be convenient to him to call.” The adjoining sheet bears the integral address panel written in Burr’s hand. In very good condition, with folds, light toning, scattered spots, the last two lines somewhat lighter than the rest, and tape remnants and holes to adjoining sheet.
