Mexican general and politician best known in the U.S. for the slaughter of scores of Americans at the Alamo. Partially printed DS, in Spanish, signed “Ant. Lopez de Santa Anna,” one page, 8.5 x 12, February 24, 1842. A document appointing “Jan Dominto Navarro, 5th Clerk of the Ministry of State and the Office of War and the Navy … [to] the position of 4th Clerk.” The embossed “leaf” seal remains intact at lower left. In very good condition, with usual folds, scattered light toning and soiling, small loss to one corner, tiny edge tears, and stains from pieces of tape formerly on reverse, no faults affecting the clear, bold signature.
