One of golf’s first boy wonders. In 1929, at the age of 21, he played a PGA tour, then in its infancy, and won eight of twenty-two events as well as finishing second six times. Smith also won the first and third ever Masters tournament. Very nice gold embossed hardcover spiral bound guest book from Warren Orlick’s Testimonial Dinner, held at the Tam-O Shanter Country Club in Orchard Lake, Michigan on June 8, 1861. Signed inside in ballpoint by Horton Smith as well as other golf notables Lionel and Jay Hebert, Walter Burkemo and Sam Snead. Book is also signed by many noted Michigan professionals as well. Warren Orlick was president of the PGA of America from 1971 to 72, who served for many years as a rules official including as the first Rules Committee chairman in 1955, and who was named as PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 1960. Orlick had attained international recognition as golfs “Mr. Rules.” In fine condition, with Horton’s signature slightly overlapped by signatures above and below his own.
