Among other topics, one discusses the specifications of a pump (“Your present 6 inch pump I feel convinced will do all you can desire for the introduction after caloric as a pumper”); elsewhere Ericsson makes reference to hoisting machines, the placement of an advertisement “in the leading French journal,” other items of mechanical interest, and, promising in one, “All will be ready for a trial … by 9 o’clock tomorrow…. Please send Carr to light the fire and run the engine.” In fine condition, with usual mailing folds and a light toning, some light scattered staining and adhesive traces, and small “secretarial” crayon markings.
