Highly regarded American songwriter best known for the musical Showboat and for such standards as “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.” DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, August 10, 1931. A document assigning the copyright for three songs to the T. B. Harms Company “in consideration of the sum of One Dollar and other valuable considerations.” The songs involved are “He’ll Be There,” “The Downcast Eye,” and “Susan.” A smaller, unsigned document from the U. S. Copyright Office is attached at lower left; both are affixed with metal grommets to the original folder. In fine condition, with mild toning, folds, and usual light handling wear. R&R COA.
