ALS signed “Bob Kennedy,” one page on an engraved folding 7 x 4.5 Attorney General correspondence card, no date [ca. 1961–1964]. Kennedy writes to famed cartoonist Bill Mauldin. In full: “Thank you for the note—I shall have someone get in touch with you—I appreciate your willingness to assist which could be very helpful to us. My best to you.” Mauldin was the creator of the legendary duo Willie and Joe, who graced the pages of Stars and Stripes during World War II and became two of the most durable icons in the history of comics. Mauldin’s apparent “willingness to assist” is interesting, indeed, given his influence and stature as a political cartoonist. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition, with staple holes and a few subtle brushes in body of letter. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
