Description

Extremely rare world premiere Help program, signed and inscribed by all four to their co-star Victor Spinetti. This very program is featured in the book, Imagine: John Lennon!

Original vintage program from the world premiere of the Beatles second motion picture, Help, held on July 29, 1965, at the London Pavillion. Program measures 8.5 x 11 and is twenty-pages in length, with photos from the film as well as brief cast and production biographies. Program is signed and inscribed on the reverse in black ballpoint by all four Beatles, each inscribing to their co-star Victor Spinetti: “To Victor, My life’s work. With all my sincerest devotion and that God rest you from John (Lennon) x,” adding a small sketch of a cross; “To Victor, Best wishes, Ringo Starr”; “Dear Victor, I like you, but you weren’t as good as Mal. Paul (McCartney)”; and “Only for you Victor - it would have all been possible! George Harrison.” Mal, referred to by McCartney is Mal Evans, the band’s longtime roadie and friend who made a brief appearance in the film. Light creasing to both covers, lightly affecting a few letters of signatures and inscriptions, but not overall appearance, a touch of mild toning and some light handling wear, otherwise fine condition. The Help premiere program is very rare unsigned, but this piece with its wonderful association with a fellow cast member places, makes this program worthy of the finest collection. This program is also the only autographed item chosen by the Lennon estate to appear in the Imagine: John Lennon book and is featured on page 76. A copy of the book is included. COA Roger Epperson/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
