For a short time, a member of The Beatles and a painter who worked in a style related to Abstract Expressionism. He left the Beatles to pursue his career as an artist before they achieved their success, and died not long afterwards from a brain hemorrhage. Original unsigned ink sketch of a seated figure at an indoor table, with several other empty tables and chairs, a large cabinet and a window in the background on an off-white 4.25 x 7 sheet from one of Sutcliffe’s art school notebooks. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating that the sketchbook was originally property of the Sutcliffe estate until sold at a Bonhams’ auction in July 2003.
