Perhaps in an attempt to avoid following in his very famous father’s footsteps, Creighton (his actual name) Chaney was at various times a plumber, a meat cutter's apprentice, a metal worker, and a farm worker. He began working in films upon his father’s death in 1930. He is the only actor to have portrayed all four of the classic movie monsters: The Wolf Man, The Ghost of Frankenstein (The Frankenstein Monster), The Mummy's Tomb (Kharis, the mummy) and Son of Dracula (Count Anthony Alucard, Dracula's son). Rare vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 portrait of a young Chaney, signed in fountain pen with his seldom-seen real name “Creighton Chaney.” In fine condition, with adhesive residue on reverse from a previous mounting, mild crease to lower right corner, small area of discoloration above Chaney’s head, traces of silvering to the darker areas. Great image and terrific, rarely seen signature! PSA/DNA COA and R&R COA.
