Truman won’t Meet The Press, “I have always insisted that everyone who wishes be represented at my press conferences, and I am not yet in a position to recant.”

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, January 16, 1958. Letter to Lawrence Spivak of Meet The Press. In full, “In reply to your letter of the ninth, I have made no appearance on any network which could be classed as an individual or private interview. Many broadcasters have asked me to, but I have refused them all. I have always insisted that everyone who wishes be represented at my press conferences, and I am not yet in a position to recant.” Gilt and suede matted and framed with a small color portrait and a name plaque, to an overall size of 20 x 18.
