Born in Chicago in 1908, he attended the Art Institute and Art Students League. His illustrations appeared in a number of publications and books, including Steinbeck’s “Grapes of Wrath.” He also served as a war correspondent for the USAF and Army during WW II, Korea, and Vietnam. In addition to images of war, Groth exhibited western genre paintings. His works are in the collections of the Metropolitan and Museum of Modern Art in New York.Original signed ink sketch of a man walking before a horse or burro with a figure, perhaps a woman, atop it on a white 11 x 8 card.
