Charming and extensive autograph album, 8 x 4.5, ca. 1875 - 1886, with elaborate gilt-tooled cover containing over 200 pages of tipped in art, poetry, pressed flowers, cards, as well as poetry and original art directly on the pages. This is a “memory book” for Alice M. B. Cordiero (died March 28, 1875). Entries span more than a decade, from Alice’s death to about 1886, mostly from the Boston-Dedham-Roxbury area. Signatures include: Wendell Phillips; L. M. Alcott; Louis Agassiz; Lucretia Hale; Edward E. Hale; Julia Ward Howe (with a stanza from Battle Hymn); Henry W. Longfellow (with a short poem); John G. Whittier (with a poem); Oliver Wendell Holmes (with three stanza poem); William Lloyd Garrison (with inscription). There are several samples of highly accomplished and beautiful artwork.
