A receipt in Carlyle’s hand for payment of £1116.13.4 from a Mr. Chapman, “being payment for four thousand copies of Vol. Fourth of Frederic the Great.” In fine condition, with light scattered foxing, folds with a few small edge separations, and Carlyle’s signature written partially atop an affixed revenue stamp.
