Description

Mane attraction: Paderewski signs a photo with a musical quotation

Polish pianist, composer, and politician (1860–1941) whose abounding talent and personal magnetism made him one of the most popular virtuosi of all time. In a career move that remains unique in the annals of classical music, Paderewski served for a year (1919) as Prime Minister of Poland before resuming an ultra-successful career as a concert artist. Handsome vintage matte-finish 3.5 x 5.5 chest-length postcard photo of a young Paderewsi with his famously luxuriant hair in a characteristic tousle, signed in fountain pen, “I. J. Paderewski,” the pianist adding a three-measure quotation from his Minuet in G. In fine condition, with mild wear and slight silvering at edges, small corner bends, slight irregularity to ink flow, and moderate signature contrast. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
