German composer (1860–1911) whose epic symphonies redefined the genre and assured him a place among the most important and influential composers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Scarce partially printed DS, in German, filled out in another hand and signed “Mahler,” one page, 8.5 x 10.75, Hof-Operntheaters in Wien letterhead, February 1905. Mahler gives his approval for the singer Conrad R. Zawilowki to participate in a musical evening to take place on February 10. Mahler employed Zawilowski (1880–1952), a baritone, at the Hofoper from 1904 to 1907. In fine condition, with bisecting folds (away from signature) with tiny edge separations, light bends at one corner, and mild scattered soiling. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
